Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County is a monthly book gifting program that mails free, high quality, age-appropriate books personalized with the child’s name directly to the child’s home. All children age birth to 5 in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County are eligible regardless of income. We want to build literacy and create excitement about reading by providing each child their own library of carefully cultivated books. Join us in this effort by becoming a donor of this community-supported and research-driven program!
The Dollywood Foundation covers program overhead by providing the enrollment database and coordinating the book selection, procurement, and fulfillment processes. The Community Foundation covers the cost of wholesale books and shipping. The shipment cost is approximately $2.20 per book, per month ($26.40 per child, per year). It only costs $26.40 to support a child’s participation in the program for a year or $132 to support a child from birth to age 5.
