We Support
Our Mission
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a monthly book gifting program that mails free, age-appropriate books to the home. This program is proven to increase preliteracy and literacy development, as well as increase excitement for reading — a key skill for success in school, the workplace, and life in general! All children within 10 weeks of their fifth birthday living in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, regardless of income level, are eligible.
The Imagination Library is a Community Foundation initiative in collaboration with The Dollywood Foundation and other funding and community partners. (Click here for information in Russian, Tigrinya, and Spanish.)
Donate
TCFHR covers the half of the monthly cost of wholesale books and shipping, with the other half supported by Virginia’s state budget. Our monthly cost is appoximately $3,500. Consider donating $26.40 to support a child’s participation in the program for a year or $132 to support a child from birth to age 5.
