The 25th annual Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver benefit concert will be held at 7:00 PM Saturday, November 17TH. All proceeds support the work of Valley Associates for Independent Living, (VAIL), a local non-profit providing services to individuals with disabilities.

Out Of The Darkness – Walk to Fight Suicide

Online registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Registration is free and open to the public. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

Tall Hats, Hatpins, and Evening Purses

TALL HATS, HATPINS, AND EVENING PURSES

 

The exhibit features over 300 items including women’s hatpins made from a variety of materials, men’s hat pins and hats, and evening purses from the late 19th century through the mid- 20th century from the collections of Betty M. Driver of Broadway, VA.  Betty, a lifelong collector and  resident of Plains District, is an active volunteer at the Museum who coordinates our Indoor Yard Sales.

 

The museum is open 1:00 – 4:00PM Thursdays – Sundays. The exhibit will run through November.
