Rocco Legacy Endowment
The Rocco Fellowship

Sharing challenges, growing together, problem-solving for resilience.

Who are the Rocco Fellows?

The Rocco Fellowship is open to individuals

  • demonstrating commitment to service and growth within the nonprofit sector;
  • serving in a volunteer, part-time, or full-time capacity with a 501(c)(3) located in and serving Harrisonburg and Rockingham County; and
  • with strong potential of creating or continuing to make significant impact in their field of choice.

Candidates should be interested in building their leadership skills, learning more about problem-based collaboration, and reflecting in meaningful and authentic ways on their work.

The Coaching Circle

Circles are a group learning model, facilitated by an executive coach, that leverages the participants’ collective lived experience, expertise, and abilities. The confidential format offers a way to give and gain support, fostering innovation, experimentation, and resilience. Participants determine the focus of each session, ensuring that the experience remains agile and responsive.

The Commitment

The 2026-27 cohort will meet on the third Tuesday of the month from September to May for two-hour sessions at TCFHR’s Harrisonburg office.

The time frame for each session will be between 8:30 a.m. -1 p.m., depending on number of applicants and size of circles.

Applicants are asked to commit to missing no more than two of the nine sessions.

Those offered a fellowship will participate in the coaching sessions and be provided opportunities to publicize their organization and impact. As the program grows, adminstrators anticipate other opportunities to share, network, and collaborate within the local nonprofit sector.

Our Coach

George Neighbors, principal of X-Roads Advisory, has contracted with TCFHR to coach the inaugural cohort of Fellows. George will draw upon decades of experience in individual and group settings with executive, corporate, and nonprofit leaders within diverse local, national, and global organizations.

On working with the Rocco Fellows, George shares: “The environment I aim to create provides a safe space for peer dialogue and exploration where leaders share challenges, uncover blind spots, and co-create solutions. In a world of rapid change, the power of shared wisdom is powerful, all the more so as it’s generated right here in our community when we come together.”
