FAQs

The Giving Back Guide is a voluntary publicity opportunity for nonprofits located in and serving Harrisonburg and Rockingham County to share their organization’s mission, vision, accomplishments and funding needs. Voluntary means that we do not solicit organizations to submit materials. We publicize the opportunity and representatives from area organizations follow our submission process by the deadline.

This annual print and digital resource is promoted and circulated to the public and area media, in print and digital form, in mid-November. TCFHR utilizes the guide as a tool in donor conversations throughout the year.

Many donor-advised grants as well as gifts from community members are made to local organizations as a result of this resource.

Because of space and resource limitations, churches and schools (public or private) are not included in the guide. Churches providing a service to all community members, such as a food pantry, may be considered for inclusion.

Representatives from nonprofits submit materials during our annual grant cycle. This is an entirely voluntary process. Speak with a representative of the organization to find out why they did not submit materials. If they’re not aware of this opportunity, please share our “Funding Opportunities” webpage.

Representatives from organizations, and the general public, can also subscribe to our newsletter. We publicize all funding opportunities in our newsletter and on our social media accounts.
