Move for Life Walk and 5K

Move for Life 2016

Registration: 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

Event Time: 9:30 a.m.

The Move for Life is a family-friendly walk and 5k run that celebrates life. We gather at this event to show our support for the work of AVA Care in this community. Funds raised at this event enable more women at risk for abortion, to receive education, help, and hope during a very difficult time. Your participation ensures that each woman that walks through our door receives the professional and compassionate care that AVA Care offers.

This year we are honored to dedicate the Move for Life in memory of Rick Blackwell. Rick demonstrated a godly concern for the unborn. His love for life influenced him to be a great advocate for those experiencing an unintended pregnancy. Through the memorial giving to AVA Care, his passion for life and legacy continues.

Our event will be held again this year at Back Home on the Farm. The morning event will begin with a welcome and brief update from Executive Director Susan Null and delicious breakfast snacks. We hope that you will plan to stay around after the walk and enjoy some family friendly activities that are available to us at the farm. We will have use of the grounds which includes playground areas, 60 ft. underground tunnel slide and the carousel. The Hess Greenhouse will also be open.

Each participant is asked to find sponsors who will pledge specific amounts to the AVA Care. Don’t worry – you don’t have to collect the money. We’ll take care of that for you. All of the money raised goes directly to providing valuable services to women at AVA Care.

AVA Care of Harrisonburg

Every week, the staff and volunteers of AVA Care meet with women who think abortion is the only option for their unintended pregnancy. And every week, we are there for her…no matter what she decides. Help us meet women at the crossroad of uncertainty and possibility.

Our free and confidential services include: pregnancy testing (nurse administered), pregnancy confirmation through limited obstetric ultrasound, client advocacy, nurse consultation, EXCEL (Equipping Parents Program), T.H.R.E.E. program (after-abortion care) and men’s mentoring.

For 30 years, AVA Care has been caring for women by helping to spare them the regret of an abortion, thanks to the generous support of this community. Partner with us today and be a part of improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable in our community!

United Way Skyline Society Reception

The United Way of Harrisonburg – Rockingham County will hold its Skyline Society Reception on Wed., April 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at CrossKeys Vineyard.

This is an appreciation event for donors who contribute $500 or more to the United Way.  The United Way would like to take this opportunity to not only extend its deep gratitude for their gifts, but also to give these donors a sense of how their investment is making an impact.  The United Way will have clients from area nonprofit organizations present to speak about how United Way has changed their lives.

This event provides a good time for these United Way donors to catch up with friends, network, enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and wine/beer.  (And this year beautiful mountain views!)
