Native Americans in Plains District

A look at the Native Americans who lived in the area through history, pictures, folk lore and displays of artifacts.  The exhibit Includes extensive collections of Native American relics from the collections of Gene Driver and  Ben May of Broadway and Charles Rife of Timberville. The Rife Collection contains over 2500 items carefully documented in a journal which was willed to Rockingham Co. after his death.  Plains District Museum is now the custodian for the collection. Also on display is a sculpture of an Indian Chief carved with a chain saw as a gift to Coby Mongold of Broadway.  Visit the Museum to get a glimpse of a little known aspect of life in Plains District.

The exhibit will be on display through April, 2017.
